The art of hand-hewing lumber is less common these days, but a few purists continue the work. We offer two such curved adzes for this work and they are very different tools. This is a two piece adze with handle and head fitting together nicely. The steel is hard enough to hold an edge but does need to be conditioned before use. It has a 31-in. long hickory ax handle and axe-shaped head with an outside cutting width of 2-3/4-in and outside cutting depth of approximately 1-1/4-inch. It is a durable tool with a refined handle and balance for ease of use. Weight is 2.5 lb. Length is 31-in.
