As with all of our tools and toys we personally test them in the field. This telescope is small enough to easily fit in a child's grip but offers 10x25 (the first number is the magnification and the second number is the aperture -- rating the amount of light the lens permits) and the range is between 101 and 1000 meters. It is encased in molded rubber to protect the lenses. The focus is smooth turning and steady. It comes with a soft nylon pouch equipped with a compass and a carabiner to easily attach it to a belt loop or coat zipper and a loop on the back to attach to a belt.
Nicholas took this telescope out for a test run in the woods at the Shelter Institute as he is our most avid ten-year-old outdoorsmen. He spends summers felling and chopping trees and exploring the great outdoors. He came running back in to rave: "This works perfectly -- it is sort of like a scope! I would use to look at birds up high in trees or for finding fox in out in the field."
