Explore tools, wood types and techniques to open a world of creativity, utilitarian uses and unique gifts. Wood burning has much to offer and does not require you to be an artist. In this hands on workshop you will learn the varied marks each burn tip can make and how to use them in lettering and imagery. Learn how to transfer images to the wood, the pros and cons of wood types, safety, adding color and so much more. Tools and wood will be provided. I will also have images available or bring your own. If you own a wood burning tool and/ or wood burnings you have done in the past please feel free to bring them. Participants will have the opportunity to make multiple completed projects.
The Workshop will cover: Safety Tools Tips and Temperature Woods Transferring Images Lettering Line Work & Shading Fixing Mishaps Adding Color Sealing the Final Work
Instructor Biography Artistic talents inherent from as far back as her great-great grandfather, Laurie's formal education began at Maine College of Art, Portland, Maine. Her creative expression comes through drawing, painting, wood burning and sculptural forms that focused on the natural world. Comfortable in many mediums, it is the process of creating and teaching others that fulfills he artistic appetite. For the past five years wood burning has been Laurie's primary focus and she is looking forward to bringing this art form to you.
