Allison has been part of the Shelter staff as a part-time member of our sales and services team since 1983. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and received a PhD in History from Temple University. She is currently a History Professor at the University of Maine at Farmington. Allison is what we call a lifer—she attended the Shelter Design Build Class in 1983 and went on to build a beautiful super-insulated home in Maine with her late husband. Alison later wrote an account of the experience in an article titled, “How to Build a House with Your Spouse.” She has begun to fix up her 10 X 20 1930s camp on the water, on the property where she currently lives. In her free time, Allison enjoys community involvement, swimming, kayaking, jogging, canoeing, hiking, keeping her aging automobiles on the road, and messing about in her significant other’s boat shop. She is active in our community and works as a Town Official in Woolwich. She continues to share her experiences of building, renovating, and maintaining homes with students and clients alike.
